BACKSIDE waveriding

Following is an example of backside waveriding. You will be using this technique mainly at Lyall Bay.

1.) The bottom turn is done into ! the wind, as opposed to the frontside waveride. Here you initiate same way as
as you would tack, but much more aggressive once again.
2.) Prepare for the cutback
3.) As in the frontside waveride, you must hit the lip at the steepest and gnarliest section of the wave (maybe not
quite the gnarliest one on a big Lyall Bay day unless you want to get buried !). As with the frontside waveride,
the lip will catapult you back into orbit. More advanced sailors will "lean" on the sail, this requires a very
committed bottom turn - cutback combination.

4.) Its harmless, just go for it, the wave will kick you back !
5.) and 6.) Once again lean forward in order to drop back into the face and get ready for the next turn.
